20 Years of Trampoline: A Rising Tide
When Leslie & I moved back to Halifax from Vancouver in 2003 with two pre-schoolers, a dog and a minivan, Halifax was a very different place than it is today. However, it did look a lot like the sleepy city we left in the late 80’s. The downtown had only one or two new buildings; the many empty lots were still… empty; the bridges still took tokens; our roundabouts were rotaries; and the donair was still the King of our culinary excellence. That year when we both joined Page & Wood Design we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into and even less sure what was in store for Halifax. The advantage of such naivety is that you are more excited about the possibility than you are scared of the unknown. All we knew when we started trampoline a year later was that we wanted to build a right-sized agency for Halifax that would help local and regional clients build their brands, help grow their businesses and provide a great home for ad-types to ply their trade. Not a satellite office from Toronto or elsewhere, not a design or PR firm that dabbles in advertising, but a full-service agency purpose built right here for here. Twenty years later, it is with tremendous pride that we celebrate two decades of being a force for positive change. We are proud of the work, proud of our reputation and most proud of the 100’s of ‘tramps’ that have chosen to spend some of their formative years in Halifax at Trampoline.
We’d be lying if we said we knew that Halifax would finally start to live up to its great potential, but we are so glad it has. And we hope we have played some small part in the city’s renaissance. Over the course of 2024 we will be reviewing and celebrating the past 20 years with blogs and social posts featuring the work, the events, the clients and the people that have made Trampoline such a thrilling ride for the past two decades. We can’t wait to see what the next 20 years have in-store for Trampoline and Halifax.
