We’re taking a weekly look at something or some place we love in Nova Scotia! Follow along each week this summer as we celebrate well-known favourites and local hidden gems.
Did you know that Nova Scotia has the highest number of farmers’ markets per capita in Canada?
With over 40 farmer’s markets and 1500 vendors throughout the province, locals and tourists can take advantage of fresh catch from the sea, baked goods, handmade artisanal goods and local vegetables, meats and dairy, with the quintessential fall experience of the east coast farmers’ market.
One of our favourite market experiences is to take in a rooftop view of the Halifax harbour after shopping around at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market, walk the boardwalk and even pop into Garrison Brewery afterward for a local craft beer. But no matter which one you choose, a visit to any farmers’ market across the province is great way to enjoy talking with local farmers and vendors, and most importantly, to learn about the wonderful people and communities that make up Nova Scotia.
Get out to a market this weekend and soak up the season – them fall veggies are fresh!
