Best of 2009: Brunch
There’s nothing like a relaxing weekend brunch in Halifax, and as far as I’m concerned, Saege Restaurant on Spring Garden Road is the best place to go.
I often take visiting friends or family to Saege because it perfectly represents Halifax’s hospitality. The atmosphere and décor is comfortable and warm. Surrounded by windows, the dining room is bright and inviting. In the summer months, patrons gather on the patio to enjoy their brunch in the sun.
It is the little details that I find make this restaurant unique, such as serving cucumbers in the water. A brunch must — Saege’s freshly squeezed orange juice. Another extra touch is the fresh banana bread served before each meal, which is equally delicious.
The menu is anything but dull, combining unique ingredients, like French toast filled with apple chutney or eggs Benedict with the smoked salmon. No matter what you order, it’s always fresh and delicious. They also serve gelato and sorbets, which can be very tempting to grab as you leave after a fantastic meal.
Being someone who absolutely loves to dine out and try new restaurants, and who has tested out a good portion downtown establishments, I’m confident in saying that Saege is definitely one of my faves.
When are you taking me?! :p
This post makes me really really hungry!
