Using our powers for good

Community isn't just an abstract concept about spatial relationships and shared values. It's where we live. It's where we work. So we feel it's our duty to put some energy back into the place that gives us so much. Here's a sample of the community organizations and events that we've helped.

Get Up There
Get Up There is a public awareness movement, fundraiser and event created by our own Mark Gascoigne. Its mission is to raise Colorectal Cancer awareness in Nova Scotia, while reducing the stigma associated with the colorectal screening. The inaugural event, held in February 2009, was a great success. Skiers of all ages hiked up Ski Wentworth and skied down throughout a 24-hour period in support of the cause. We're already looking forward to next year.
Bide Awhile
Bide Awhile, a local animal shelter, prides themselves on providing humane shelter for abandoned and homeless animals. But they can't do it alone. The billboard and transit campaign we created for them dramatizes the problem for consumers in a way that hopefully opens up their wallets.
The Great Canadian Backyard Campout
One of our favourite clients, The Trail Shop, gave us the opportunity to help out with the inaugural Great Canadian Backyard Campout this year. A fun family event, derived from the American counterpart, The Great Canadian Backyard Campout encourages families from across the country to spend some quality time together in the great outdoors.
Autism Golf Ball
Working with this event since its inception four years ago, we've taken care of event branding, advertising and promotion. The 2009 Autism Golf Ball raised an impressive $80,000 for the Provincial Autism Centre. If you missed it, make sure you catch it this year, set for October 16, 2010.
Dartmouth Adult Services Centre
An organization near to our hearts, the Dartmouth Adult Services Centre gives individuals with an intellectual disability the opportunity to thrive through vocational programs and meaningful work. In order to help DASC succeed, we examined their website and redesigned it to provide visitors a more user-friendly experience. The new site is expected to launch in late 2009.
ICE Awards
We are proud to serve as 2009 co-chair for the ICE Awards. An acronym that stands for Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise, the awards are organized by a diverse group of Atlantic Canadian advertising and marketing professionals to celebrate creative advertising made in Atlantic Canada, and vie for the coveted crystal ICE Buckets. Now in the eighth year, ICE holds the belief that advocating for best practices in our industry will contribute to this region's economy, while helping attract and serve marketing-oriented businesses.
Turning Points in Leadership — Saint Mary's University
On behalf of the Saint Mary's University Alumni Association, we have donated our time to help create the identity and communication pieces for the annual Turning Points in Leadership event. Celebrating the achievements of local and national leaders, the event also makes a significant contribution to deserving students — and that's an effort we're proud to support. Read our blog the most recent event here.
Touching lives: The Elizabeth Chard Annual Saint Mary's University Alumni Dinner
Also on behalf of the SMU Alumni Association, we have developed the identity and materials surrounding the annual alumni dinner held during homecoming weekend each year. This event is a great representation of the school spirit celebrated by all current and former SMU students.
